Sexual Offence Service

The FSS provides a comprehensive tailored sexual offence response service to police forces. We can provide a range of scientific examinations to support the investigative and corroborative phases of investigations, including access to enhanced DNA technology where appropriate. FSS can also provide relevant training and consultancy to police personnel throughout the service.

The FSS works closely with a number of police forces to improve the contribution forensic science can make in identifying offenders, improving rates of conviction and exonerating the innocent. Our philosophy has been one of improved communication, closer working, shorter timescales, solution focussed management information and enhanced intelligence. We are also seeking to align emerging services with the protection of vulnerable people under the Protective Services umbrella. Our philosophy remains one focussed on reducing attrition through increased victim care.
