Cold Case Review
The FSS offers bespoke cold case review solutions for serious unsolved cases. We can use the latest technologies to examine retained materials to obtain additional information to help progress a case. For example, the latest DNA techniques can be used to develop DNA profiles where this has previously not been possible. Other options include the use of improved methods of fingerprint enhancement and recovery to generate fingerprints on retained items. Our track record demonstrates convictions in over 220 serious cases dating back to the 1970s. The FSS’ familial searching DNA technique has helped to solve 19 cold cases.
The FSS works with over 38 police forces reviewing thousands of historic unsolved offences. Between January and June 2010 the FSS had in the region of 600 cold case reviews in its system.
The FSS’ unique archive contains over 1.5 million cases files and retained materials which have provided a crucial starting point for all cold case reviews undertaken.
