Cell Site analysis

Developing a clear understanding of the location at which calls were made or received can represent important evidence in an investigation. Knowledge of the radio frequency (RF) cellular coverage of specific cells can provide an investigator with valuable information about this location when combined with the network operator’s Call Data Records (CDRs).

The FSS has a fleet of vehicles equipped with the latest mobile network analysis tools to conduct drive surveys and establish the network configuration or coverage of a particular cell. We can cover all four UK GSM mobile networks at once. Data is imported into software packages to generate visualization of cell coverage. We can map the geography and cell overlay using 2D and 3D tools.

We can also undertake test calls which can be used to test particular calling and movement scenarios within a given proximity to the scene of a crime.
